Dakota and Curt Memorial

Thank you for participating in the 10th Annual GO Memorial 5K!
Dakota and Curt.
Dakota Gonzales
Dakota was here for only 18 years, so how could anyone accomplish or achieve anything in such a relatively short time. Yet, watching how people from around the world were touched by him just goes to show that yes, you can make an impact in a short lived life of 18 years. Always wearing a smile when you get ready for the day. Taking your eyes off of you and your needs or wants and focusing that onto others. That's how you start to build a life that matters. It's not always about being first or winning. Oh, he loved that since he was so competitive, but he knew it was how he won. If you know Dakota then you knew his faith was vital to his everyday life. What do you believe in and stand for? Will people look back like they do with Dakota and say, they were honest, kind, caring, and yes very funny. Oh I'm sure the stories that are out there! We always knew Dakota was an amazing person, and it seems now after his passing everyone is able to share in that. It's an amazing opportunity to build a legacy without really knowing you did. So we encourage you to run a race of life doing your best in all things, building a life that truly matters.
Curt Orlowski
"The love we have is God's gift to us. What we do with it is our gift to God."
- Curt's Facebook
If you ask anyone who knew Curt the first thing that comes to mind when they think of him, chances are they'll say his smile or his laugh. He always had a way of making you laugh when laughing was the last thing you thought you could do.
It wasn't until after his death that I found out just how important it was to Curt to make those around him feel better. Whether it was a chiney, a bad joke, a weird dance move, pinching your toe, or doing an obscure impression, he did whatever it took to make those he cared about just a bit more happy.
I think Curt turned his gift from God into caring for those he held closest. And God saw it was such a good gift He needed Curt with him. So as much as we miss Curt, and as much as we wish he was here, we know we'll see him again.
